Westcroft Gardens Wedding

About The Owners

A favorite place of mine to DJ weddings is Westcroft Gardens on Grosse Ile. Established on July 6, 1776 it is the oldest family owned and operated farm in the state of Michigan. Westcroft is owned by the 7th generation of Macomb descendants and operated by the 8th generation. This is where Westcroft stands out.  Clayton and Erica set the tone for the entire event.  They are highly organized, personable and happy to allow guests access to their beautiful property. How can they set the tone for an event?  Their positivity has an immediate impact on every guest that arrives for a wedding.  They are your guests first impression.  Everyone is welcome and Clayton readily shares any history or information about the property.  Keep a lookout specifically for Luna the cat! She’s a rock star!

Sound System Requirements & Lighting

There are key elements to providing DJ services at Westcroft.  A big sound system isn’t necessary.  However, audio needs to be clean and well positioned. Why clean sound? There are neighbors and if poorly amplified speakers are utilized then the DJ will need to crank it up.  This, undoubtedly, will disturb neighbors and hurt the ears of guests. The dance floor is in close proximity to the DJ, which is great for interaction. As for lighting, I prefer to bring a handful of battery powered lights.  We strategically place them on the ground, while aiming them at an upward angle. As a result, the lights illuminate the dome of the Azelea house creating the same effect as overhead lighting.  Why? The DJ is positioned near the edge of the domed greenhouse and there isn’t a lot of clearance for lighting. Click Here to see us DJ at this location.

Ceremony

Guests planning a Wedding at Westcroft Gardens & Farm can have a ceremony only, reception only, or ceremony and reception on the grounds. Be certain to utilize a DJ that offers battery power services for your ceremony. Despite having no power at the ceremony site, guests will be able to hear the officiant and the vows. Do not use a generator, they’re too noisy. The DJ can also provide music for guest arrival and the happy walk down the aisle. Westcroft can accommodate up to 100 guests for Wedding Ceremonies and events in the Azalea House.

Perks

Another major perk of selecting Westcroft Gardens are the amenities they offer.  It comes with tables, chairs, a portable dance floor. There’s also a changing area in the Wedding Suite. Clients receive a 1 hour rehearsal and engagement photo shoot. These are huge perks! Wedding Season at Westcroft starts Memorial Day weekend and goes through the end of October. There are roughly 4 acres of Heritage Gardens from which you can enjoy during a wedding or event. Prime bloom season is from mid-May to mid-June, however the grounds retain their beauty with each season.  They are also an operational greenhouse in the spring. It’s hard to believe that creating memorable events at their beautiful heirloom Gardens started nearly 100 years ago! Westcroft Gardens, where moments blossom and memories grow.
